Billy Joe Rogers, age 63 of Whitney passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his residence. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Whitney with Pastor Rusty Penney officiating. Facial mask and social distancing are encouraged.
Billy Joe Rogers was born on September 8, 1957 to Joe and Joyce Rogers in Whitney, Texas. He was a one-of-a-kind type of man; you’ll never meet another like him. He had a fiery personality and was known for his quick wit and playful banter. He loved being the center of attention and could light up a room with his laughter and crooked smile. Billy Joe was an accredited cowboy attending Ranger College on a rodeo scholarship and winning “All around Cowboy” on multiple occasions. No one could match his horsemanship and many envied the horses he owned throughout his life. He could rope, ride, you name it and usually did it better than anyone else. He also didn’t mind telling you that either, which is what made him so fun. He loved his children and enjoyed the company of his friends. He never met a stranger and loved to politic. You either loved him or hated him and most of the time it was in the same day. He was a legend in his own right and is now riding high in Heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Joyce.
Billy is survived by his children, TJ Rogers, Lanie Frazier, Lacey Tadlock, and Tyler Reid; sister, Paula Terry and brother, Tommy Rogers.
Memorials can be made to The Hill County Fair Grounds, P. O. Box 435, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
