Billy Travis Waits, 54, of Haltom City, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Paul Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Billy was born May 28, 1957 in Hillsboro the son of William Travis and Betty Lou (Freeman) Waits. An avid outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, riding his motorcycle, and working with his hands. A very spontaneous person, Billy had a sense of no fear and would try and do anything. He had many friends and was very well liked. He never met a stranger. For 27 years he worked as a master electrician and journeymans electrician at Day and Night Electric in Hillsboro and for the past 2 years at E-Conn Enterprises in Fort Worth. Billy was a very good cargiver to his mother whom he loved dearly. He was of the Baptist faith.
Preceding him in death were his father, William Travis “Bill” Waits on June 22, 2006; grandmother, Frances Waits; and grandparents, James Lee and Mozelle Freeman.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Lou Waits; three children, Eric Ross Waits, Johnny Travis Waits, and Samantha Kay O’Steen; maternal grandfather, John Travis Waits; three sisters, Vickey McCammon and husband, Owen, Patricia Leach and husband, David, and Jackie Williams and husband, Eddie Wade; three grandchildren, Larissa and William O’Steen and Serenity Waits; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to Leona Waits, the mother of his children, Johnny and Samantha.
