Blanca Scott

Blanca Scott, 97, of Hillsboro died Monday, February 7, 2011, at Park Manor Health Care & Rehab in DeSoto.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2011, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Don Scott officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Blanca was born on July 12, 1913 in San Juan, Puerto Rico daughter of the late Francisco and Mercedes (Gonzalez) Massanet. During World War II, she served as a telephone operator at the Army Air Corp Base in San Juan. It was there she met and later married William Oris Scott of Brandon on February 6, 1944. He preceded her in death on March 1, 1988.

She later served as a teachers aide with the Hillsboro Independent School District. Blanca was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Survivors include her two children, Dennis Scott and wife, Gayle, of LaGrange and Susanne Johanson and husband, Randy, of Lancaster; three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
