Bob was born October 23, 1926 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Robert and Inez Kerns Bunton. His early years were spent in California working in fish canneries. During World War II he served in the Pacific Theater in the U. S. Army. He returned to Kansas after the war and worked in agriculture. On January 14, 1950 he married Evelyn Salsbury and she preceded him in death on January 9, 1994. In 1991 he relocated to the Steele Creek Area of Whitney for his wife's health. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of American Legion Post #522 in Whitney. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed baseball and racing. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Wallace E. Bunton on April 20, 1997. Survivors include two children, Robert Bunton, Jr. and wife, Karla, of Grand Prairie and Myrna M. Bethards and husband, Jim, of College Station; and nine grandchildren, Angela Bunton, Troy Bunton, Sabrina Bunton, Heather Bunton, Christopher Bunton, Monica Bunton, Avery Bethards, Dylan Bethards, and Tabitha Bunton.
