Bob Yarbro

Bob Yarbro, 94, a native of Woodbury, Texas, after a brief illness passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus in the early morning hours of January 9, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with a visitation beginning at 9:30 am. The memorial service will continue with a graveside service at the Old Woodbury Cemetery followed by a reception at the Woodbury Community Center.  To honor Bob's request, we ask all that are attending to wear mask.

Bob is the son of Herman and Mary Weinzettle Yarbro, he was born December 6, 1926, on the hilltop just northwest of Woodbury. He attended the Woodbury Community School. Known as a hard worker from a very young age of 5, he hunted, tanned and sold animal furs to travelling traders and Sears & Roebuck.  In his youth, Bob crisscrossed the country picking fruit and vegetables. As a water well driller with Layne Texas Company, Bob continued his adventures traveling and working throughout North America and Central America.  He retired from Aquilla Water District at the age of 85.  It was in Russell, Iowa while drilling a well, that he met his true love, Sue Reynolds.  They were married at a Methodist church in Des Moines, Iowa on November 4, 1956.  Bob and Sue recently celebrated 64 years of love and marriage.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mary Yarbro; daughter, Tracy Lynn Yarbro; son, Michael Glen Yarbro; grandson, Mac Griffith; brother, Bud Yarbro; and sister, Raenell Lamson.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Yarbro; daughter, Kimberly Yarbro of Sugar Land, Texas; son, Scott Yarbro and wife, Chirelle, of Casper, Wyoming; daughter, Kelly Griffith and husband, David, of Angleton, Texas; grandchildren, Faith Yarbro, Katrina Yarbro, Mariah Bhatti, Robert Yarbro, Greg Yarbro, Drew Griffith, Layla Villegas, and Aiman Bhatti; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Yarbro and Evy Horrell; sisters, Anna Goodman and Carol Ince; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Bob will always be remembered for his entertaining stories, his dedication to organic living and gardening, his gentleness, his integrity, and most of all for the love and devotion he gave abundantly to his family.

As in life, his concerns for the health and wellbeing of family and friends always eclipsed his own needs.  Further announcements will be forthcoming as to when all may gather safely to celebrate Bob’s life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Woodbury Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1527, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
