Bobbie D Smalley, 95, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, February 29, 2024. Graveside services will be held at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro, Texas on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12-1 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Bobbie was born on April 4, 1928, to Doyle Juneus Smalley and Ivy Melinda Sessums Jacobs in Hillsboro, Texas, where she was a lifelong resident, Bobbie was a very active member of Line Street Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Having been baptized at Line Street in 2003,  she loved singing in the choir, having fellowship meals with a time of playing games, she was the newsletter editor from 2000 to 2020,  Bobbie quilted a king size quilt with all church members names as well as a quilt for the youth/children. She led the prayer team until just shortly before her death. She was an unselfish person and more than anything she wanted to worship her Lord. She was active in the Emmaus Community as long as she was able. Bobbie worked with the youth in Hillsboro serving as a 4H Adult Leader for 27 years. She was the Hill County Docent and loved to share the history of Hillsboro with anyone who would listen. She was also a member of the Les Causeuses Club. She lived her life to serve others and her Lord.

After graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1947, Bobbie worked as secretary of the Hill County Extension Agency for 19 years. She also worked as Manager of the Retail Merchants Association and at Dobbs Buick Dealership in Hillsboro.

Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, Doyle Juneus Smalley and Ivy Melinda Sessums; brothers, Juneus Ewell Smalley, and Ernest Orville Sessums; sister-in-law, Ann Smalley; her niece, Mollie French; lifelong friend, Peggy Sullivan; and her nephews Benson Smalley and Clyde Smalley.

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Smalley Lacey; her brother, Jimmy Smalley; her niece, Brenda Ries, her nephew, Kurt French,  as well as her great nephews, Eric French and his wife, Carolyn, Cameron French, Michael Ries, Koby Smalley, Chris Smalley, and David Smalley; her great niece, Candy Brister.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hill County Museum.
