Bobby was born on March 2, 1961 in Fort Worth, Texas, to Robert Spencer Cassaday and Linda Lou (Williams) Cormier. The oldest of five children, he was always looking for a new adventure. Crawdad fishing and creek fishing were childhood pursuits and those years were the beginning of a life long love of the outdoors . Hunting and fishing were great passions. He also had a great love for animals and always wanted to have a horse. His dream of owning a horse came true when he won a horse through an auction held at the Open Range Cowboy Church. He named the horse Choctaw, and later acquired another horse he named Cherokee. These Native American names were chosen because of his (part) Native American ancestry. His children’s names were chosen because of his Irish heritage. His two horses and his beloved dog, Honey, were his animal family.

His human family includes best friend, Linda Brooks; father, Robert and step-mother Naomi Cassaday; mother Linda and step-father Ron Cormier; two daughters, Shauna McCoy and his son-in-law, Jeff, of Haslet, TX and Shaylyn Cassaday of Fort Worth, TX; granddaughters Caitlin and Madeline McCoy; brothers Scott Cassaday and wife Trish of Willow Park, TX, and John Cassaday and wife Melissa of Sanger, TX; sisters Lori Williams of Hurst, TX, and Cindy Nieman and husband Chris, of Arlington, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and was honorably discharged in June of 1982. Bobby was very proud of being an American veteran. The time he spent in the military helped to develop his values of God and country.

Anybody who knew Bobby was aware of his stubborn independence. Along with that trait was a big heart; if he loved you, you knew you were loved.
