Robert James "Bobby" Cooper passed away at his residence on April 2, 2006. He was the son of Perry and Elizabeth Music Cooper. He moved to Texas at age 10 and he grew up in Dallas. Bobby was a professional bowler at age 17 and went on to win in the U. S. Open in 1970 and was Sporting News Rookie Bowler of the year in 1966. He subsequently developed health problems and was not able to continue with his bowling career. He had lived in Whitney for the past 5 years and was a member of Fort Graham Baptist Church. Bobby was also a lifetime member of the American Bowling Congress; a member of the Gabe P. Allen Lodge #1352 in Dallas where he was a 32 Mason, and also a member of the Lake Whitney American Legion Post #522. Preceding him in death were two brothers, Dan and Nicky Cooper. Survivors include his parents, Perry and Elizabeth Cooper of Whitney; daughter, Julie Graves and husband, John of Houston; sister, Ellen Forbes and husband, Bryan of Dallas; grandsons, Andrew and Joshua Graves of Houston; 1 nephew, 2 nieces, 3 great nephews and 4 great nieces.
