Bobby Fife

Bobby Gene Fife, 85, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Gentiva Hospice in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015, at the funeral home.

Born September 1, 1929 in Madison Parish County, Louisiana, he was the son of John A. and Vera I. (Cathey) Fife. Bobby, a Korean War veteran, served his country in the United States Air Force from December 3, 1947 to December 31, 1967, retiring as Charter Chief Master SGT. Following his military career, he went to work for LTV in Grand Prairie which later became Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company. He retired from there in the early 1990's.

On February 3, 1979, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Ann (Grimsley) Cole. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening. He attended Line Street United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Fife on September 26, 2007; and son, Glenn Cole in 2000.

Survivors include his children, Sheryl Harper and husband, Bland, of Euless, Sandra Berndt and husband, Dan, of Fort Worth, Jon A. Fife of Hillsboro, and Debbie Cole of Arlington; daughter-in-law, Kelly Hastings and husband, Brett, of Hillsboro; brother, Kenneth Fife and wife, Mary Beth, of Arlington; four sisters, Joann Reeves and husband, Hollis, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Betty Miracle and husband, Bob, of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Carolyn Norman and husband, William, of Falmouth, Kentucky, and Patricia Gray and husband, Bruce, of Crossett, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
