Bobbye Bracken

Bobbye Elaine Hurley Bracken was born on July 24, 1940 in Ardmore, Ok. to Luther and Vivian Hurley and passed away on October 17, 2008. Bobbye married her high school sweetheart, Alford D.A.D. Bracken on November 5, 1958. Bobbye faithfully served the Lord with A.D., an ordained Elder of the Church of the Nazarene. Both received a Distinguished Service Award for years of service of devotion to the Church of the Nazarene. Bobbye grew up in Oklahoma and was active in the church at an early age . Her faith was strong and a vital part of her life. She gave of herself and her time freely, creating newsletters for the parishners in the church she and her husband attended. Bobbye truly enjoyed genealogy and researching the past looking for long-lost family members. However, her greatest accomplishment was her children whom, she and A.D. raised to love and respect themselves and others. Not only was she a mother, but she was a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a mother-in-law, a grandmother and finally, a good and faithful servant. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Vivian Hurley, a brother, LeRoy D. Hurley, In addition to her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her son, Luther D. Bracken, daughter-in-law, Kim, and grandson, Brandon of Beaumont, Tx.; daughter Cathy Bracken of Wilson, Oklahoma; son Mark Bracken and daughter-in-law Sandy and grandson, Seth of Huntsville, Tx.; sons David Bracken and Stephen Bracken of Gholson, Tx.; three sisters: Rev. Betty Bartlett, brother-in-law Rev. Joe Bartlett; Bonnie Baker; and Joyce Hurley, all of Wilson, Oklahoma, and a host of friends and relatives. Visitation is from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2008 at 2:00 PM at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney. Memorials may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund at P.O. Box 115, Whitney, Tx. 76692
