Bonnie Jo Cockrell, 78 of Waco, formerly of Aquilla went to be with her Lord Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007 in Waco. The family will receive friends from 6-8on Friday evening at the funeral home. She was born Jan 22, 1929 in Mobile, AL to Hugh and Vera Palmer. At the age of 17 she married William Douglas Cockrell and together they had four boys and two girls. They were married 45 years until his death in 1992. She had a special talent and love for growing flowers and was always tending to them. She volunteered for several years in the 70's at Latham Springs Baptist Encampment where she cared for the prayer garden. Later she worked in the kitchen at the encampment enjoying the fellowship with all the ladies. She later retired and became a full-time homemaker and grandmother. She was a strong Christian woman and walked for the Lord. She always had a kind word and a beautiful smile for everyone she met. She was a member of Smith Bend Baptist Church now know as River of Life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Bobby Joe Cockrell and brother Sandy Palmer. She is survived by her sons, Ronnie Cockrell & wife, Beverly of Waco; Jerry Cockrell & Robbie Cockrell of Aquilla. Daughters, Patricia Lassetter & husband, James of China Spring; Debbie Rendon & husband, Sammy of Aquilla; Brother, Bob Palmer & wife, Mary of Houston; Sisters Frances Jobe & husband, Harmon of Waco; and Dianne Ball of Aquilla; 13 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Grandsons & honorary Pallbearers are Great-grandsons.
