Boyd Varnon

Boyd Varnon, 85, of Hillsboro died Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Walls Regional Hospital in Cleburne. Boyd was born August 1, 1921 in Bowie, Texas the son of Willie D. and Bessie Maddox McDuff Varnon. As a young man he lived in New Mexico. On June 13, 1942 he married Wilma Lee Halbert in Hillsboro and they had 63 years wonderful years together before she preceded him in death on March 1, 2006. A very loving father and a devout Christian, Boyd had a great sense of humor. He worked for the Texas Highway Department before retiring in 1986. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro. Also preceding him in death were his parents; son, Willie Lee Varnon; grandson, Michael Prescher; and two brothers. Survivors include his children Kenneth Varnon and wife, Ruby, of Burleson, Doris McNutt and husband, Tom, of Whitney, and Barbara Prescher Jeffress and Jerry Varnon both of Hillsboro; 9 grandchildren, Gary Atchison and wife, Cheryl, Kristine Martin and husband, Rick, Teresa Perry and husband, John, Larry Morgan and wife, Cindy, Kimberly Gillman, Kevin Prescher, Lori Banas, Mandolin Varnon, and Ryan Varnon; and 16 great-grandchildren.
