Bret Rasmussen

Bret Rasmussen, 51, of Whitney passed away on June 24, 2011.

Memorial Services will be on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Lavon Baptist Camp, 8050 CR 735, Princeton, Texas with Chaplain James Stephebns. Graveside inurment service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at Whitney Memorial Park in Whitney.

Bret was born on January 18, 1960 in Marin, California, the son of Wells and Thelma Rasmussen. He grew up in California and came to Texas as a teenager.

For twenty years Bret was a Lieutenant with the Volunteer Fire Department in Branch and also served as an EMT and first responder. He devoted his life to helping people. At the time of his death he was in school studying to be a nurse.

Spending time with his family was his greatest joy. Bret loved listening to Texas music, woodworking and fishing.

Survivors include his fiancee, Cheryl Arthur of Whitney; father, Wells Rasmussen and wife, Jean of California, mother, Thelma Rasmussen of California; daughter, Stacey Hampton and husband, Danny of Dallas; sisters, Pamela and Mary both of California; 2 grandchildren, Chelsea Rasmussen and Justin Hampton of Dallas.

Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, 201 North Bosque, Whitney, Texas
