Bruce Coonrod, 47, of Whitney passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Church of Christ in Whitney located at 109 E. Jefferson, Whitney, TX 76692.

Bruce was born March 12, 1965 in Dallas to Bobby Coonrod and Betty (Rogers) Gates. He spent his childhood in Shady Shores, honing his passion for the outdoors.

Bruce loved to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and driving trucks. It was rare to see Bruce without a smile on his face and he loved everyone he came in contact with. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Whitney.

Special thanks to his mother, who was with him throughout his illness; also, many thanks to the Blocklingers.

He was preceded in death by his cousin, Michael Ben Rogers; nephew, Daniel Tietge; and his aunt, Bernice (Bea) Brock.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Coonrod of Whitney; mother, Betty Gates of Irving; father, Bobby Coonrod and wife, Helen, of Denton; three children, Robert Coonrod and wife, Judith, of Ponder, A. J. Coonrod of Denton, and Amanda Martinez of Whitney; two brothers, Melvin Tietge of Sherman and Tommy Brock of Irving; step-brother, Danny Willmond of Denton; two sisters, Shawn Brock of Irving and Nancy Nelson of Lewisville; two grandchildren and Madilyn and Desmond Coonrod; and numerous extended family and friends.
