Biography

C. K. “Butch” Caldwell, 65, of Itasca passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at Emery J. Lilge Hospice House in Burleson. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Brian McClure and Rev. Eddie Booth officiating.

Born July 19, 1952 in Clovis, NM, he was the son of Clarence Kirby, Sr. and Ara (Brim) Caldwell. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Texas living in the North Central Texas area for many years. Not long after high school, Butch went to work for the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad in 1971, which was later acquired by BNSF. After 38 years, he retired as a Yardmaster in 2009.

In March of 2001, he and Jacque were united in marriage in Las Vegas, NV. They made their home in Hill County near Osceola. Active in the rodeo world for many years, Butch competed for several years in bulldogging and was even a rodeo clown. He was a member of Peoria Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters, Lou Jean Caldwell and D’Tanis Garwood.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Jacque Caldwell of Itasca; two children, Shawn Caldwell and wife, Michelle, of Jasper and Laura Marbut and companion, Allen Manis, of Covington; two step-children, Shelby Glenn and husband, Aaron, of Hillsboro and Zachary Stone of Dallas; two sisters, Peggy Wallace and husband, Pete, of Alvarado and Barbara Sapp and husband, Shelton, of Abilene; two grandchildren, Stormie Caldwell of Jasper and Caleb “Boot” Marbut of Covington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hill County Paw Pals, P. O. Box 1533, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
