Carl P. Snavely, of Whitney, formerly of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away in Hillsboro, on November 19, 2014.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney, with Reverend Mike Kerzee of King Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM before the service. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery near Whitney.
Carl was born on May 27, 1930, in Johnstown, PA, to John Richard and Sara Ellen (Parker) Snavely. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was the owner of Snavely Refrigeration Co., in Johnstown, PA. A lifetime member of the VFW, he was also a member of the American Legion and Zion Lutheran Church of Johnstown, PA.
His hobbies included woodworking, building small steam engines, gardening, fishing and antiques.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Snavely of Whitney; sons, David Snavely and wife, Cindy of West Virginia and Scott Snavely and wife, Eiko of Whitney; daughter, Laurie Miller and husband, Todd of Whitney; grandsons, J.T. and Cord Miller; brother Robert Snavely and wife, Nancy of Johnstown, PA.
