Carol J. Satterwhite, 72, of Laguna Park, passed away on November 23, 2017 in Waco. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Carol was born on December 20, 1944, in Mount Holly, New Jersey, to Nicholas and Marie (Dorisio) Mattio. She grew up in Pine Grove, New Jersey and graduated from Lenape High School in 1964. On June, 5, 1971, she married Randal Satterwhite in Marlton, NJ, while he was in the army.
She worked for the U.S. government medical boards at Walsom Army Hospital at Fort Dix for seven years before moving to Ft. Worth where she worked for the GSA for 2 years. She then returned to New Jersey and worked for the Mt. Laurel School district as a bus driver and was active in sports organizations. Before moving back to Texas, she also worked as a real estate agent part time. In 1991, she began working for the Texas Department of Corrections where she remained for 4 years.
She enjoyed attending Friday night football games and spending time with family and friends. Since becoming a grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and attending all of their activities. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Randal Satterwhite of Laguna Park; children John Satterwhite and wife, Kathleen of Midlothian and daughter, Nicole Corson and husband, Joe, of Whitney; grandchildren, Morgan Satterwhite and Ryan Satterwhite of Midlothian and J.R. Corson and Wes Corson of Whitney; brothers, Anthony Mattio and wife, Kathleen, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Nicholas Mattio and wife, Keri, of Tuckerton, NJ, and Craig Mattio and wife, Lisa of South Hampton, NJ; a sister, Darlene Fillius and husband, Gary, of Mt. Laurel, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
