Carrie Gail (Miller) Craig

Carrie Gail Miller Craig, age 91 passed on Wednesday, January 25 at University Medical Center of El Paso with one surviving son, Edmon Harvey Craig of Hillsboro, Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Poulter Miller; her father Warren D. Miller; a baby brother, Warren Harvey Miller, and grandparents Harvey H. & Jimmy Richards, all of Brady Texas.

She was born on November 6, 1931 in Brady and graduated Brady High School in 1949, and later took classes at the University of Texas.  She married and was preceded in death twice, once to Edmon Carl Ellison of Brady, and to Daniel Benton Craig, Jr. of Littlefield.

Gail resided in numerous cities in Texas including:  Austin, Brady, Childress, Gilmer, Hillsboro, Littlefield, Longview, Lufkin, Pittsburg, Temple, and Victoria, She worked most of her life in the legal field, retiring in 1987 as President of Lawyers Title and Abstract Company in Austin. She was an accomplished pianist playing classical music as well as music in various First Christian Churches.

She started horseback riding at age of three, and enjoyed riding her horse and going horseback with her father hunting as a child on their ranch. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling, traveling all over the world.  Upon her son’s retirement, she would travel with him in his Airstream, was active in the Airstream Club, and served as First Lady of the Texas Highland Lakes Club.

Carrie was a supporter of Texas A&M University, establishing several perpetual life support programs with the Texas A&M University Foundation.

In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations and memorials go to the Stevenson Life-Care Center, College of Veterinary Medicine Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University, 4461 TAMU, College Station, Texas 77843-4461.  One may download a Memorial Gift Form at:  https://vetmed.tamu.edu/stevenson-center/support .

Arrangements are made by Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with grave side services conducted on Monday, February 6 starting at 2 in Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady, Texas.  Guests may view pictures & video of her life and send condolences to her son starting on Tuesday, January 30 on their website:  https://www.marshallandmarshallfd.com .
