Carrol Gene “Rusty” Walker passed away peacefully on January 25, 2024, spending his final days surrounded by his 3 beloved children and many friends and family. Rusty was born to William and Juanita Walker on December 19, 1947, in Monahans, Texas. He was the youngest brother of Wendall and Robert “Bob” Walker. The family moved to Fort Worth, where Rusty went on to excel in football at Fort Worth Poly Technical High School. After graduating in 1966, he continued his football career as a middle linebacker for Texas Christian University. Seven years later, in 1973, he earned his master plumber’s certificate and ran his own company. After a decade in the plumbing business, he and his older brother, Bob, with their families, decided to embark on a new adventure. In 1984, they bought Harbor Master Marina on Lake Whitney. While operating the marina, Rusty also enjoyed being a striper fishing guide; however, no one will soon forget the brilliant firework show that he and his brother put on every 4th of July, bringing together thousands of people from the surrounding areas. Together, Rusty and Bob ran Harbor Master Marina for 34 years before retiring in 2018.
He will be remembered most for his big personality, quick wit, willingness to help anyone and treat everyone like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Juanita Walker, and his brother Wendall Walker.
He is lovingly remembered by his brother Bob, and his wife Priscilla; his three children and their spouses, Rusty and his wife Melissa, April and her husband Deron, Colt and his wife Kristin; his 11 grandchildren: Markayla, Logan, Dillon, Slayter, Greyson, Gavin, Jackson, Charlotte, Beau, Julianna, and Jacqueline; his four great grandchildren: Truitt, Joel, Wonder, and Adelyn, and the rest of his family and friends.
