Carroll Weedon, 88, of Hubbard went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the early hours Sunday, April 12, 2015. His family will host a memorial service in his honor at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam officiating.
Carroll was born in the parsonage of First Baptist Church in Greenville on October 3, 1926 to Dr. and Mrs. Frank Weedon. Following his graduation from Denton High School, he served his country in the United States Army in WWII. After a year and a half of service, a service related accident led to his honorable medical discharge. Carroll went on to graduate from the University of North Texas and Fort Worth Theological Seminary. After serving in the ministry for over 20 years, he returned to UNT to earn his Masters in Counseling and Guidance through the department of education. In 1983 he met Susan and the couple was wed in 1985. Carroll worked with the Carrollton ISD as a vocational counselor, retiring in 1990 and relocating to the “land” in Hubbard to fulfill his life long dream of ranching. Carroll loved his children and grandchildren and sharing “ranch life” with them.
In 1997 they found their church family, joining First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. During the next 18 years, Carroll served the Lord in the Sunday School program, Vacation Bible School, Hill College student lunch program, Lord’s Supper preparation, Halloween Celebration, and many others. Up to the very end when he knew it was Sunday, he would always be looking for his “church” clothes, his boots, and wanted to get going. He truly loved his church family and being in “his pew” on Sundays.
Preceding him in death were his parents Frank and Lucille Weedon; brothers, Dan and William Weedon; sisters, Mary Schmidt and Sarah Kruger.
Survivors include his wife, Susan, of 31 years; sister, Martha Glasgow and husband, Earl, of Arlington; children, Jimmy Weedon and wife, Sandie, of San Antonio, Elyse Ward and husband, Mark of Houston, Frank Weedon and wife, Maria, of Longview, Ben Weedon of Oregon, Delynne Wight and husband, Alan, of Australia, Michelle Matson of Las Vegas and Kimberlie Osborne and husband, Jeff, of Pilot Point; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the saints of Asana Hospice for all their medical help and emotional support.
