Catherine "Kay" Clements

Catherine “Kay” Clements, 74, of Woodbury passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at her residence.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro.  Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, prior to service time, at the funeral home.

Born October 20, 1944, in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of William D. Turner and Catherine (Renfro) Cleveland.  For over 30 years, she was the secretary at United McGill Air Flow.  On February 10, 1962, Kay was united in marriage to Jerry Benton Clements in Hillsboro.

For all but just a few years of her life, she lived within a 3 block radius on East Elm Street in Hillsboro until she moved to Woodbury after the passing of her husband Jerry.  Kay absolutely loved watching all of her grandchildren play sports and soon became everyone’s Momo that played on the teams with them. She not only raised her own children and grandchildren, but countless other children that passed through her door over the years.  She was so proud to open her home to any and everyone.  Always cooking, her doorstep soon became known as Momo & Papa’s PitStop also because she loved NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt & Dale, Jr.  She was a very loving and nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Kay devoted most of her life to taking care of her husband and children and did it without hesitation!  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting/crafts, and chasing run away cows on her lawnmower.  Kay was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding her in death were both her parents; grandparents, R. D. “Honey” and Elizabeth “Mommie Bess” Renfro; step-father, Tom Cleveland; father-in-law, J. B. Clements; high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 54 years, Jerry Benton Clements; great-grandson, Finn Benton Pope; two brothers, Donald Turner and Guy Cleveland; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Reed and Carol “Tunk” McCauley.

Survivors include her two daughters, Melinda Kay Landry and husband, Jeff, of Snyder and Amanda Leigh Clements and partner, John Mabry, of Woodbury; two brothers, Doug Turner and wife, Kay, of League City and Ronald Turner and wife, Colleen, of  Marietta, Georgia; sister, Maudie Earl and husband, Chris, of Hollywood, California; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Reed of Whitney, Barbara McCauley of Franklin, and Claudia Turner of Mississippi; mother-in-law, Lila Desma Clements of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Jodi McGinty of Hillsboro, Jeffrey Benton Stewart of Snyder, John Austin Pope and wife, Taylor, of China Spring, Tanner Ethan Pope and wife, Cassady, of Hillsboro, and Hunter Joe-Bob Pope and partner, Jessica Russell, of China Spring; life long friends, Emily Evans “the Madam” and Joyce Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hill County Paw Pals, P. O. Box 1533, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or Drowzy Dawg Rescue, P. O. Box 412, Covington, TX 76636.
