Catherine Hogg Howard was born August 10, 1929 to Sammie Jay Lancaster Hogg and Robert Byron Hogg. Growing up in Hillsboro as a child, she spent a lot of time in her dad’s auto repair shop. She attended Clifton Junior College and years later, in 1970, completed her degree at Tarleton State University. After marrying James Paul Howard on August 28, 1947, the couple lived in Clifton for more than 40 years. They later lived for 12 years in Hewitt until his death in 2009.

During her working career, Catherine was a seamstress at Walls Manufacturing for 7 years, a school secretary, and taught elementary school for 17 years, teaching many young children to read. She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband of 62 years, James Paul Howard.

Catherine is survived by her daughters, Cathy Franklin of Abilene and Paulette Penney of Hewitt; three grandchildren, Tonya Cargill of Eddy, Paula Ernst of Abilene, and Wes Penney of Waco; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Hogg of Searcy, AR; and sister, Marie McNiel of Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in her name to Providence Hospice, 6700 Sanger Ave., Waco, TX 76710.

The family is grateful to both Brookdale Senior Living and Providence Hospice for their kindness and care of our beloved GG.
