Cathy Bartholomew

Mary Catherine Bartholomew passed away the morning of December 5th at her home in Whitney, Texas.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph Thekkumthala officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Cathy was born November 8, 1940 in Pomona, California to Bill and Orie Beck and was the youngest of three children. She was a cheerleader at Pomona Catholic High School and graduated from San Diego State in 1962. She married Thomas Bartholomew, CDR USN (Ret.) in December of 1962. She was an elementary school teacher in California and when the family moved to Texas she became an administrative assistant to several executives. Her passions included equestrian sports with her Palomino Quarter Horse, Quick Lacey Lee. Together they won many competitions and participated in parades both in Hill County and in Fort Worth. She also thoroughly enjoyed travel and had been across the United States including to Hawaii and Alaska as well as all around Europe. She was also a member of the White Bluff Garden Club and active in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro as well as Holy Angels Catholic Church in Clifton.

Cathy is survived by her brother Roger, sister Becky, children Ann and Paul, granddaughter Jennifer and family in California. She will be missed by her many friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in her name to American Cancer Society.
