Cathy Lou Bourgoin, 72, of Hillsboro, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2020, surrounded by her immediate family. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Tommy Prud'homme officiating. A visitation with the family will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
Cathy was born to parents Frances Irwin Holford and June Audrey Holford, on August 24, 1947 in Parma, Ohio. She graduated from Valley Forge High School in Ohio in 1965 and went on to study American History at The Kings College in NY and later Texas Christian University where she graduated with a Masters of Divinity.
Cathy taught 3rd grade for 5 years in Stanford, CT. She met Andre Laurent Bourgoin in 1974. They were married on February 15,1975 in Bridgeport, CT and then moved to Texas. Together they raised 3 children: Danielle June, David Laurent, and Linette Marie. She was also a motherly figure to countless others. She found her true passion at the age of 50 when she became a United Methodist Minister. She served at 4 different churches in Central Texas however, the majority of her ministry was spent at Line Street United Methodist of Hillsboro.
Cathy was a lovingly patient wife and mother who made a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had an infectious smile, a joyful disposition, and loved being with family and friends. She was always there to lend a listening ear with just the right advice. She was a great example of how God’s love is full of grace and faith in His plan.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Andre Bourgoin; daughter, Danielle June, son-in-law, Joseph Andrew Spencer, Jr., and granddaughters, Allison Linette and Lauren Adele; son, David Laurent Bourgoin, daughter-in-law, Heather Nicole, and grandchildren, Aiden Alexander, Ava Grace, and Archer Ray; daughter, Linette Marie, son-in-law, Jeremy Lynn Rogers, and grandson, Jace Andrew Rogers; sister, Sharon Butler and husband Glen, brother, William Holford and wife, Antoinette, brother, Jack Holford and wife Debbie, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frances Irwin Holford; mother, June Audrey (Hudson) Holford; and sister, Donna Green.
