Cathy Thomas

Cathy Bussey Thomas, 68, of Whitney passed away October 8, 2018, at her home in Whitney. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with Dr. Richard Darden officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

She was born to the late Joseph and Beulah Bussey, May 21, 1950, in Wichita Falls. Cathy graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1968 and attended Midwestern State University. She married the late Ron Thomas in 1970 and began a whirlwind tour of the US by living in 3 different states and 9 different cities before they ultimately settled in Whitney. Cathy was nothing short of amazing with everything she did all the while having a servant’s heart. From working side by side with her husband at their company to helping establish an outreach program for underprivileged youth to leading women’s bible studies to making desserts that would always have people competing for the last piece.

Upon retirement she settled in Whitney, where she found a delight in cooking, antiques and her animals. Cathy had a smile that would fill a room and a laugh that was genuinely contagious. Cathy loved the Lord, enjoyed spending quality time with her friends and was immensely proud of her family leaving behind nothing but beautiful memories and an incredible legacy.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 48 years, Ron Thomas; mother, Beulah Bussey; father, Joseph Bussey; father-in-law, Raymond Thomas; mother-in-law, Francis Thomas; and brother-in-law, Bob Thomas.

Survivors include her son, Jon Thomas and girlfriend, Jenny Cordova, of Plano; sister, Margaret Bussey of Lake Whitney; brother, Joe Bussey and wife, Natalie, of Lubbock; sister-in-law, Susan Thomas of Henrietta; nephews, Matt Thomas of Bedford, Mike Thomas of Waxahachie, and Michael Bussey of Pampa; nieces, Ashley Thomas Carrizales of Bowie and Stephanie Wood of Lubbock.
