Cecil David Pearson

Cecil David Pearson, 72, of Whitney, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2020.   A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, from 3-5 p.m. at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

David was born on February 12, 1948, in Monahans, Texas to Cecil Edward and Deverne Armistead Jackson.   He graduated from Wink High School in 1966, and then went on to earn an Associate degree in Applied Science from Odessa Junior college.

On May 27, 1972, he married Karen Heath in Odessa.   David was presently a retired home builder as well as a real estate broker.    He started out his welding career while in college and always considered himself a welder by trade.    In addition to welding he also owned several businesses including fabrication, drilling, real estate and home building.

In his spare time, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, gun collecting, golfing and boating and had a passion for horses and flying.  As a licensed pilot he enjoyed taking his family and friends on trips.

Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his six grandchildren.   As a member of Whitney Church of Christ, David always inspired us through his Christian faith and encouraged our walk with the Lord.

His generous heart, incredible work ethic and his deep love and devotion for his family will be how David is remembered.    He will also be remembered as Coach Pearson by those he touched through his years of coaching his three daughters at Odessa Christian School.

Preceding him in death were his grandmother, Velda Parks; his father Cecil Edward Pearson; his mother, Deverne Armistead Jackson; and a sister, Beverly Casparek.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughters, Kara Pearson of Whitney, Kim Fossum of Waco, and Kristin Emery and husband, Cody of Whitney;  grandchildren, Ava, Aidan and Andrew Fossum and Casen Presley and Camden Emery; sisters, Karen Hearn and husband, Carl of Garland, Celia Ambrose of Midland, Becky Mills and husband, Bill of Argyle; brothers-in-law, Mike Heath of Odessa,  Dale Heath and wife, Molly of Marble Falls; and several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to Whitney Church of Christ, P.O. Box 621, Whitney, Texas  76692.
