Cecil was born July 29, 1906 in Ovilla, Texas to John Henry and Georgia Candis Austell Powers. For the past 30 years he lived in the Whitney area, previously living in Hillsboro and Waco. On July 19, 1924 he was ordained a preacher and retired from preaching in July 1970. Cecil married Ruth Jaynes March 12, 1927 in Hillsboro, Texas and she preceded him in death January 14, 1990. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro. Also preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include a son, Cecil M. Powers, Jr. and wife, Naomi, of Spring; two granddaughters, Donna Renae Lowery and husband, Eddie, of Cleveland, Texas and Cindy Ann Miller and husband, Stan, of Columbus, New Jersey; a sister, Dovie Miller of Waco; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Powers of Waco and Novella Powers of Waco; and six great-grandchildren.
