Charles J. Eilers, 74, of Whitney, went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness, on December 16, 2014 in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, December 20, 2014, at First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney, with Pastor Greg Johnson and Rev. Bobby Booth, officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Friday, December 19, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Charles was born in Mills County, Texas on August 11, 1940, to Henry and Malinda (Nauert) Eilers. He moved to Whitney in 1982 and opened Kase Industries, Inc., where Charles designed a complete line of horticulture equipment for the green house and nursery industries which are still being used today. On May 26, 1990, he married the love of his life Janie Jones in Whitney. In 2009, he retired to the farm to work the land and to serve the Lord.
He was the treasurer for the Hill County Unit of the Salvation Army. Active in his community, a friend to churches and pastors, he also loved visiting and ministering to the sick. He was a Christian first, and a member of Towash Baptist Church and attended First Church of the Nazarene in Whitney. He loved his Lord, his family and friends and was happiest when serving others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gilbert Eilers.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 25 years, Janie of Whitney; children, Vickie Caroline Lopez and husband, Vince of Brighton, Colorado, Debra Fay Williams and husband, Steve of Montgomery, Illinois, and Karl Eilers of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Herman Eilers and wife, Mary of Burleson, Raymond Eilers and wife, Joyce of Goldthwaite and Larry Eilers of Gustine; sisters, Shirley Killebrew and husband, Hugh of Eldorado, Nelda Davis and husband, Chuck of Pottsboro and Betty Rhodes and husband, John of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Justin Holleman and wife, Ashley, Travis Holleman, Desiree Eisenach and husband, Mo and Dena Lopez; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Waylon, and Skyler; numerous nieces and nephews; and a great host of friends.
