Charles Roy Fox, 81, of Hillsboro went to be with the Lord July 25, 2010 at his residence. Charles was born May 10, 1929, in Frost, Navarro County, Texas. He was the son of Roy Marvin and Irma Lee Curry Fox. He attended schools in Hillsboro until the 9th grade when the family moved to Itasca where he graduated from Itasca High School in 1947. In early 1949 he joined the United States Navy, serving aboard the US Navy Aircraft Carrier, Boxer, for almost four years. Travels took him to China, Hawaii, Korea, Japan, Philippine Islands, other areas, and experienced the initiation of crossing the Equator. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Charles returned to Itasca. In 1953 he began working for the Lone Star Gas Company in Hillsboro, and in 1955 was employed by the Texas Highway Engineering Department of Hillsboro, and retired after 36 years in 1991. Charles was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Preceding Charles in death were his parents and one brother, James Marvin Fox of Waxahachie. Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Hillsboro; one son, Stephen and wife, Susan, of Van Alstyne, Texas; one daughter, Rikki Lynn MacBarron and husband, Richard, of Tustin Ranch, California; grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Matt Whalen, of Houston, Katherine MacBarron of Santa Barbara, California, Samuel Fox and Sophia Fox of Van Alstyne, Texas; two sisters, Faye Marie Copeland of Covington and Carolyn Bons of Grandview; and several nieces and nephews.
