Charles Roy Gilmore, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Waco. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, July 22, 2013 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Leah Hidde-Gregory of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro officiating.
Charles Roy was born July 27, 1934 in San Juan, Texas to Harvey and Bernice (Dreibelbis) Gilmore. He was raised in McAllen. On May 11, 1968, he married Mable Bechthold. They enjoyed camping and traveled many states in their motor home. For over 30 years they belonged to the Sam’s Club Camping Chapter.
Charles retired from the City of Garland as an electrical engineer in 1999 after 29 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Keith Bolds, and niece, Leslie Bolds.
Survivors include his wife, Mable Gilmore of Hillsboro; sister, Nadine Bolds of Plano; two nieces, Laurie Brown and husband, Kyle, of Plano, and Lynley McWhorter and husband, David, of Dallas; three great nephews, Kevin Brown, Jason Brown, and Henry McWhorter; great niece, Marilyn McWhorter; aunt, Lorene Gibbons of Edinburg; and cousins Jackie Billings and husband, Jimmy, of Edinburg, Jimmie Dean Dreibelbis and wife, Marlene, of San Juan, and Joy Elam and husband, Frank, of Dallas.
