Charles Craig Hooker, 64, of Peoria went to be with the Lord March 23, 2023.  Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 27, 2023, at Peoria Cemetery, Peoria, Texas.

He was born September 24, 1958, to Billy Charles and Barbara Beasley Hooker in Waco, Texas.  Charles moved to Hillsboro, Texas, in the eighth grade.  After graduating from Hillsboro High School, Charles attended Hill College and Southwest Texas State University.  In his high school years, he worked as a butcher for Hawk n High grocery. Later, in college, he worked for Cliett Hardware in San Marcos.  After leaving San Marcos, he went to work for NASA where he retired after thirty-five years of excellent service.  Upon retirement, Charles returned to Hillsboro and purchased a farm in Peoria, Texas.  He was a man of many interests and talents who enjoyed the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing and boating. He was also a wood worker, horticulturalist and arborist. Charles was a member of First Baptist Church Hillsboro.  A man of sterling character, Charles was a good friend, loyal brother and loving son.  Our loss is heaven’s gain.

Preceded in death by his father, Billy Charles Hooker, Charles is survived by his mother, Barbara Beasley Hooker; his sister, Julie Hooker Mickits and husband Kevin F. Mickits; his sister, Janyth Hooker Riedel and husband Larry O. Riedel; his brother, David C. Hooker and Sarah Eastland.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
