Charles Markwardt

Charles Ray Markwardt, 64, of Malone passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro with Rev. John Koelpin officiating. Mr. Markwardt will lie in state from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Charles Ray was born April 27, 1949 in Hillsboro to Wilbert and Lorene (Lander) Markwardt. He was a graduate of Penelope High School. For two years, he served his country in Vietnam with the United States Army. Most of his life was spent farming. He also was employed at the Hill County Precinct 3 Barn and part-time at Clarence Johnson Gin. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his father in 1979 and grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Lorene Markwardt of Malone; two uncles; six aunts; and many cousins and friends.
