Charles Ray McKinney 74 of Whitney passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Officiating will be Rev. Mac Sullivan of the Peoria Baptist Church.
Charles was born on October 24, 1940, in Dallas, to the late Robert Aaron and Euwana Elizabeth (Snow) McKinney. On December 15, 1959, he married Donna Jean Jones in Dallas. He proudly served his country in the United States military. He was a meat cutter by trade for many years at various stores in Dallas and ended his career cutting meat at Tom Thumb Foods.
Charles was a member of Peoria Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. His favorite hymn that he liked to sing was “How Great thou Art”. All who knew Chuck, knew of his great sense of humor and loyal dedication to his wife and children.
Charles was a member of the Whitney Masonic Lodge # 355 and he held many offices in the Masonic Lodge including Masonic Blue Lodge - Past Master, Order of the Eastern Star - Past Patron, Chapter - Past High Priest, Council - Past Thrice Illustrious Master; Commandry - Past Eminent Commander; District # 16 - Deputy Grand High Priest. Charles also held memberships in the Order of High Priesthood, Order of the Silver Trowel, Allied Masonic Degrees 462, Knight Masons 97, Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge # 355, Scottish Rite, Waco, Chapter, Hillsboro chapter # 152, Council, Hillsboro# 94, and Commandry - Hillsboro # 39.
Preceding him in death was his brother Robert Aaron Mc Elroy.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean McKinney of Whitney; children, Vicki Ward and husband Butch of Whitney, Dawn Hammock and husband Alan of Palmyra,Virginia, Michael McKinney and wife Brianna of Artesia, New Mexico and Nita Acton and husband Ted of Denton; grandchildren, Rick and Amanda Ward of Little Elm, Brandon Ward of Whitney, Chris and Nicole Hammock of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, Andrew and Cassidy McKinney of Dover, Delaware, Amber and Ryan Watson, Jacoby McKinney, Bailey McKinney, and Samantha McKinney, all of Artesia, New Mexico, Jacob Acton of Garland, Reuben Acton and Becky Acton of Denton, Leah and Justin Miller of Richardson; and 12 great-grandchildren.
