Charles Houston McNutt, 95, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Hillsboro and Dallas, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Ken James officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at the funeral home.
Born July 1, 1918, on a farm near Ben Franklin, Delta County, Texas, to Willie Houston and Irene (McCrary) McNutt, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Hilda Earlene (Ramsey) McNutt; his parents; and his siblings Elizabeth, Carl, and Alfred. Charles spent his working life in the aircraft industry and his retirement traveling the country and building Baptist churches with Volunteer Christian Builders. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hillsboro and a former member of North Dallas Baptist Church.
Charles is survived by daughter, Laurie Nelson; son, Charles Wayne Kovsky and his wife, Peggy; stepson, Jerry Luther and his wife, Carol; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
