Charles Rust

Charles Henry Rust, 74, of Hillsboro passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Ouseph officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.

Charles was born June 26, 1937 in Ballinger to Jack William and Epsie Allen (McEachern) Rust. He grew up in the Ballinger and Midland areas. At the age of 17, Charles joined the United States Air Force and was a member of the Strategic Air Command in North Africa and Louisiana. He moved to Dallas with his wife, Faye, and children, Larry and Cindy. Charles and Faye divorced in 1975.

On October 2, 1976, in Dallas, he married Jacqueline Dome. The couple moved to Hillsboro in 1986. Charles operated Ray’s Dairy Inn for a short time. He was the first manager of the Diamond Shamrock Convenient Store in Hillsboro until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro and Knights of Columbus Council #10375 in Hillsboro.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Billy Bob Rust.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Rust; five children, Larry J. Rust and wife, Deborah, Cindy Rust and husband, James Irwin, Charles R. Rust, Jessica L. Rust, and Andrew Rust and wife, Candace; two brothers, Jack W. Rust and Jene Rust and wife, Colleen; sister, Annie Faye Clark; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
