Charles Ernst Schultz (Chuck -WQ5B), 72, of Whitney, passed away on July 29, 2015, at Waco hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving at 2:00 PM Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015, at the funeral home.
Charles was born on July 25, 1943, in Orange, Texas, to Adolph and Mildred (Hudson) Schultz. He graduated from Irving High School in Irving, Texas. Charles worked for LTV for 13 years which led to many great adventures for him. Later in life, he enjoyed working the RV shows every year at Dallas Market Hall.
Known to many as simply WQ5B, he was an avid HAM Radio operator and a member of the Lake Whitney Amateur Radio Society. You could set your watch by Chuck as he was on his radio every morning at 7 a.m. He was also a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, fisherman and enjoyed “RV-ing” with his wife.
Having rarely met a stranger, Chuck always had a story to tell. Sometimes those stories were short, but usually very, very long. Charles/Chuck/WQ5B and those stories will be missed by many, many people.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Schultz.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Evelyn Schultz of Whitney; sister, Patricia Hightower and husband, Floyd of Waco; brother James Alan Schultz and wife Pamela Ann of Forney; children, Laurie Schultz of Antioch, California, Steve Schultz of Denton, Melodie Bacon of Martinez, California, David Schultz of Salt Lake City, Utah, Chad Linden Schultz of Canby, California; step-children, Bobby Delong, Jr. And wife, Melissa of Whitney, Jackie Spurgin of Red Oak, Jeannie Rowley of Whitney and Kim Ward and husband, Greg of Denton; 10 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
