Charles T. “Tom” Tracy, passed away on August 26, 2020.
Charles was born on August 11, 1940 to Charles L. Tracy and Mary A. Strouder Tracy in Cincinnati, Ohio. He graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, Texas and attended the University of Texas at Arlington. From 1962-65, he served his country in the U.S. Army and was in the Army Security Agency before receiving an honorable discharge.
On March 11, 1967, he married Sharon Sullivan.
For 25 years he worked as an insurance adjuster before retiring to Hill County in 1993. After moving to Hill County, he and his wife, Sharon opened Peoria Station in downtown Peoria, Texas, but due to the decline in his health they had to close the store in 2004.
He was a member of Tyler United Methodist Church before moving to Hill County. After closing Peoria Station, he attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Whitney where they became members.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon and 4 daughters, Jan Ottmo of Honey Grove, Lynn Mieczkowski of Hillsboro, Dawn Brewster and husband, John of Hillsboro and Kim Mooney of Whitney; one son, Mike Tracy and wife, Kathy of Springtown; two brothers, John Tracy and wife, Rita of Bedford and David Tracy and wife, Susie of Oak Leaf, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He wanted to express his deep love and gratitude to the congregation of MBC and the many customers and friends made at Peoria Station.
Tom’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will hold a memorial service at a later date to be announced.
