Charley L. Harrison, 88, of Whitney, passed away on March 16, 2016, at an Mansfield hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016 at Bethlehem Cemetery with Rick Pinner officiating. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Charles was born on February 12, 1928, in Gorman, to Charlie and Luvicie (Collins) Harrison. On March 15 1957, he married Bettye Jewell Shaver and she preceded him in death on September 8, 2002.

He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a round house operator until his retirement. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed having and doing fish fries.

He served his country in the United States Army. Since l977, he had been an active volunteer firefighter for the 2604 Volunteer Fire Department, was a founding member and had served as fire chief until 1979. He was a member of the Blum Masonic Lodge #607 and the Covington New Hope Lodge# 652. He was also a member of Open Range Cowboy Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Jack Harrison.

Survivors include Ron Crowder and wife, Peggy of Whitney; granddaughters, Angela Harrison and Kimmico Harrison; a brother, Lee O. Harrison of Granbury; sister Betty Dixon and husband, Floyd, of Ft. Worth; nieces Vickie Dixon of Ft. Worth, Sabrina Scott of Granbury and Patricia Phillips of Texarkana; and nephew, Lee O. Harrison, Jr., of Cleburne.
