Charlie Ray Thompson

Charlie Ray Thompson, 66, of Whitney, passed away on November 23, 2020, in Hillsboro.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at Big Springs Baptist Church, 6538 N. Jupiter Rd., Garland, TX 75044, with Pastor Greg Oppenhuis officiating.  Burial will follow at Big Springs Cemetery in Garland.

Charlie was born on September 26, 1954, in Corsicana, Texas to Charlie and Rosie (Murphy) Thompson.  He grew up in Garland, graduating from South Garland High School in 1973.

For over 40 years, he worked for Sears as a service repairman.   In his spare time, enjoyed fishing with his dad.  He loved old cars and was an avid NASCAR fan.   Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially putting on a fish fry for them.

Charlie was a member of Abiding Life Church in Whitney.

Preceding him in death were sisters, Jill Thompson and Margaret Dooley.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Thompson; parents, Charlie and Rosie Thompson; children, A. J. Matheson, Coe Bellamy and husband, Bryan, and Sheila Stamey; 4 grandsons, Bryson, Charlie, Cohen, and David; and sisters, Janet Freeman and Tyra Parillo and husband, Tony.

Memorials may be made to the Big Springs Cemetery Management Association, Inc., P. O. Box 830223, Richardson, TX  75080.

There will be a reception following the graveside service at Janet Freeman's home.
