Charlotte Bass


Charlotte was the daughter of Conrad and Lois Nowles Wood. She was raised in El Dorado, Arkansas, and on August 31, 1951 was married to Oliver P. Bass, Jr. While in El Dorado, she was involved in the El Dorado, Jr. Charity League, Charter member of the El Dorado Little Theater, and was very active in the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a frequent soloist and very active in the choir. In 1968, they moved to Crockett, TX., where she was active in the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Community Concert Association Board, was past Chairman of the Board of Houston County Hospital, was active with Houston County S.H.A.R.E. program and also served as a girl scout leader. After retirement, they enjoyed full-time RVing before settling in Whitney in June, 1994. Currently, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro. Preceding her in death were her father, mother Lois Wood Davis, step-father John Davis and sister Evelyn Wood Dickens. Survivors include her husband, Oliver Bass, Jr. of Whitney; three children, Amy Luke and husband Jim of Dallas, Alison Whiddon and husband Doug of The Woodlands, Oliver "Trip" Bass, III and wife Sarah of Springfield, PA.; six grandchildren, Colin Hills, Chrissy Luke, Andrew Whiddon, Brian Whiddon, Samantha Bass, and Emerson Bass.
