Charlotte Marek, 83, of Penelope, passed away on February 2, 2019, in Waco. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Penelope with Father Joe Keating officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, February 4, 2019 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Charlotte was born on February 5, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Louis and Elizabeth (Hoerner) Reichart, Sr. She grew up in Baltimore and met her husband while he served his country in the United States Marine Corps. On June 9, 1956, she was united in marriage with Edward R. Marek and he preceded her death on September 20, 1999. She enjoyed the life of a military wife while her husband served his country. After his service, in 1973, they moved back to Penelope and have lived there ever since.

She loved to build puzzles and was an avid quilter and made quilt tops for the “Love Thy Baby” organization which she referred to as “babies R us.” When she was able, she enjoyed working outdoors and taking care of her flowers and garden and watching the birds and rabbits.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Others preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Diana Lynn Beeson; a son, Ronald August Marek; a son-in-law, Daniel Atkins; four brothers, John Henry, Louis Joseph, Jr., William Hoerner and Paul James Reichart; a sister, Mary Frances Reichart Johnston; and brothers-in-law, Henry Marek, William Marek, and Harold Shilling.

Survivors include her children, Patricia Suggs and husband Charles of Penelope and Paula Gordon of Fort Worth; 5 grandchildren, Justin Atkins and wife Amanda of Penelope, Cody Atkins of Penelope, Charlene Gordon and husband Brad of Germany, Lorraine Foreman and husband Lance of Fort Worth, and Amanda Lynn Beeson of Eastland; 14 great-grandchildren with 1 great-grandchild on the way, 2 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; sister, Elizabeth Ann Reichart Nickles and husband Nick of Baltimore, MD; 3 sisters-in-law, Dolly Marek of Lake Kiowa, Janet Marek of Whitney and Wilma Shilling of Bryan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made the West Volunteer Ambulance Association, 501 Meadow St., West, TX 76691.
