Christine was the daughter of James Monroe and Kate Collum Church. She was born in Corsicana and graduated from high school there, and had also attended Hillsboro Junior College. On June 13, 1931, she married Thomas B. Cockrell. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1986. While living in Hillsboro for most of her life, she was very involved in many organizations and activities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, and also a charter member of the Sesame Club and a past member of the Cemetery Board. Also preceding her in death was a son, James T. Cockrell on November 18, 1992. Survivors include: Son, Don G. Cockrell and wife Cindy Whigham Cockrell; 5 grandchildren, Craig Cockrell, Clay Cockrell, Sean Cockrell, Ross Cockrell, and Kelly Cockrell; 10 great grandchildren; and extended family, Fred and Sue Ella Stevens of Whitney.
