Christopher "Chance” Hansen, 30, died Monday, February 26, 2018, at his home. We have chosen to have a Celebration of Life Ceremony, but the specific time and date have not been confirmed. If you would like to attend, please bring a photo of Chance to help make a memory board for the family.
He succumbed to a quiet, serious mental illness which he battled silently for far too long. Despite our efforts to comfort, and give light to the opportunities ahead, depression constricted Chance from seeing the kind, loving, generous, loyal, helpful, brother, son, and friend that he was. He would often find comfort and peace by reading, and studying quite a variety of subjects, which led him to obtain challenging certifications in numerous outdoor elements. Chance would bring laughter into the room with an organic essence, and he would always make you feel welcome while encouraging you to be your true self.
Everyone’s life is its own mystery, and is not always open to outside understanding. Chance struggled to fully extricate himself from this constriction that deprived him of a peaceful life, where people often turned their back, but he will now be remembered for the courage he had to face it. Chance grew up being a part of multiple sports and social clubs, and all his life he was like a chameleon amongst his peers, always fitting in wherever he went. While his death leaves us raw, and struggling for acceptance, Chance’s life will live on in our hearts and so will his spirit.
He was proceeded in death by his father, David Hansen; Grandparents, Delbert and Marjorie Hansen, Wanda Haynes and Jean Williams.
Chance is survived by his mother, Teresa Hansen, of Steele Creek; sister, Sarah Hansen of Denver CO; son, Landen Leal; Aunts and Uncles: Wanice and Dwight Brown of Waxahachie, John and Rachel Rowlan of Fort Worth, Lisa Forrest of Portland, Maine, Jerri Green of Fort Worth, Linda and Judy Hansen of Austin, David Williams of Fort Worth; Cousins, Blake Brown of Loveland CO, Ian and Payton Forrest of Denton, Meagan, Melody, and Mandy Meador, Sean Rowland, and John C Rowland; and Grandparents: Don Williams of Brazos Point.
