Maurice Freeman, of Whitney, passed away on January 22, 2018 at his residence. A graveside service under the direction of Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney will be held at 1:00 p.m, Friday, January 26, 2018, at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas with Rev. Nathan Scott Clinkscales officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the funeral home.
Maurice was born on October 17, 1931, in Dallas, to Max and Myrtie (Wilson) Freeman. He lived in Dallas most of his life before moving to Milford in 1975 and moved to Whitney in 1994.
On June 12, 1953, he married Sue Gray in Dallas and she preceded him in death of May 19, 2002. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitney where he also served as a deacon.
Maurice served his country from 1950 -1953 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Preceding him in death were a son, Forest Stephen Freeman on September 28, 1977 and a sister, Nelwyn Wyona Carter in 1954.
Survivors include his children, Richard Wayne Freeman of Whitney, Mark Allen Freeman and wife, Janet, of Whitney, and Susan Lanell Mowery and husband Keith also of Whitney; grandchildren, Erica Brannon Rose of Corsicana, Kevin Freeman, Seth Mowery and Kayla Mowery all of Whitney; and brothers, Max Dee Freeman and Benny Frank Freeman, both of Mesquite.
