Clayton Williams, 90, of Lubbock passed away Friday , October 23, 2015 in The Plaza at Lubbock. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, October 26, 2015 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Mr. Gene Edens officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM just prior to the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro.
Clayton was born on August 29, 1925 in Hillsboro to Walter Sinclair and Florence (Bunch) Williams. He grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army and fought for his country during World War II in Germany. When he returned to Hillsboro, he graduated from Hill Junior College. In 1952, Clayton married the love of his life, Ruth Jordan and she preceded him in death on February 11, 2009. He managed a cotton gin and grain elevators in Kress for a while, before owning and operating his own cotton gin in Tulia. Along with being an avid football and baseball fan, he also loved watching his children play sports. His church membership belonged to the Church of Christ in Kress and Tulia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Clayton is survived by son, Jerry Clayton Williams and wife, Jane of Waxahachie; daughter, Lisa Gaye Marmolejo and husband, Mike of Lubbock; and son, Gary Don Williams of Lubbock. Grandchildren: Kaitlin Williams, Sara Williams, Lindsey Williams, Brett Marmolejo, Conner Marmolejo, and Mason Marmolejo.
