Collins Wesley Wise, 91, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday morning, November 27, 2012, in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 30, at First Baptist Church in Hillsboro with Rev. Danny Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 29, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Collins was born June 25, 1921 in Rockwood, Texas to Jiles Wesley and Minnie (Snider) Wise. He grew up and went to school in Rockwood and then went on to graduate from Texas A&M in 1943. After serving as an officer in the United States Army, he moved to Fort Worth where he met Jean Reddy. They were married on September 11, 1946 and she preceded him in death on August 10, 2009.

For over 50 years, Collins proudly owned and operated Wise Oil Company in Hillsboro. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lions Club for over 50 years where he served as President, the Masonic Lodge for 67 years, and the American Legion for 60 years, all in Hillsboro. Collins was also a member of the Hillsboro Country Club and Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and had served as President for both of these organizations. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing golf, or tending to his garden, of which he was so proud. Whether he was around town or picking up pecans in his yard, he always offered a smile and a wave...He was a friend to all.

Collins, also known as Papaw, Daddy, Uncle Boochie, and C. W., was truly a great man and touched the hearts of everyone he knew. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, a doting grandfather and great-grandfather, a sweet baby brother, an amazing uncle, a compassionate and giving friend, a helluva domino player, a (semi-pro) golfer, and a Proud Aggie...and the list goes on and on. His family and friends feel truly blessed to have had him in their lives and to have been loved by him!

Also preceding him in death were his parents, five brothers, and four sisters.

Survivors include his children, Ronnie Wise and wife, Aureliane, of Cypress, Randy Lee and husband, Raymond, of Houston, and Russ Wise and wife, Kim, of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Lisa Jean Rush, Todd Bice, Boris Collins Wise, Stephanie Wise, Kelly Jo Divin, and Colin Wise; three great-grandchildren, Collins Rush, Caroline Bice, and Haylen Rylee Wise; and many nieces and nephews.

Although Collins will be missed and mourned by his family, they are comforted knowing that so many others will rejoice in meeting up with him again, and that he will once again be able to hold Jean’s hand and hug her tight. Family and friends will cherish and hold on tight to their memories of Collins until they all meet again.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
