Coy N. Porter, 75, of Peoria passed away Friday, March 16, 2018, at Providence Health Care Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Eddie Booth and Pastor Terry Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the funeral home.
Born February 25, 1943 in Hillsboro, he was the son of William “Bill” and Eunice (Halbert) Porter. He lived in the Hillsboro area all of his life. Following high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard serving with the 101st Airborne Paratroopers. On April 10, 1972, Coy was united in marriage to Carolyn Ivie. For 42 years, he was employed by Harbison-Fischer as a machinist and supervisor, retiring in 2006. In 2013, he joined the Peoria Baptist Church where he served as the maintenance coordinator. Coy loved to tend his vegetable garden and share the produce with family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; twin brother, Troy Porter; son, Rodney Adcock; infant son, Coy Roland Porter; and brother-in-law, Burlon Ivie.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Carolyn Porter of Hillsboro; children, Ricky G. Porter and wife, Sally, of Peoria and Nanette Sue Janeway and husband, Wayne, of Houston; brother, Lloyd Porter of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Adam, Destiny, and Brandy; five step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; other extended family; and many close friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Coy’s honor to the Peoria Baptist Church Building Fund, 1347 FM 1947, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
