Cozett Curbo, 93 of Whitney passed away at his residence on January 5, 2011. Cozett was born on December 16, 1917 in the Bethel Community in Hill County. He was the son of the late James and Addie Cupp Curbo. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On September 21, 1940 he married Martha Underwood in Hillsboro and she preceded him in death on August 10, 2003. He farmed and ranched for 50 years and his last crop of peanuts were grown and harvested in 1993. His life was dedicated to his children and he enjoyed playing all kinds of games and was an avid domino player. He served on the Whitney Hospital Board, Appraisal Board and served as mayor of Whitney for three terms. He was a member of the Whitney Church of Christ and the Whitney Lions Club. Also preceding him in death were his son, Jerry Gene Curbo on November 29, 1993, 9 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his children, Marilyn Bartek of Belton, Margaret Brunett and husband Bert of Whitney, Michael Curbo and wife JoAnn of Lorenzo, Thresa Ford and husband Lynn of Robinson, Billy Don Curbo and wife Paula of Hillsboro, Marty Curbo and wife Cindy of McGregor; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
