Mrs. Cockrell was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, February 17, 1944, to Harold Smoot and Dorothy Whigham. Mrs. Cockrell was a graduate of Whitney High School and Hill College and was a long time resident of the Lake Whitney area. She was a loving and caring mother and friend. She owned and operated a video store for several years and then turned to substitute teaching and being a teacher's aide for many years, She enjoyed working with children. Survivors include, her husband, Don; two sons, Craig Cockrell of Buffalo Gap and Clay Cockrell of Clifton; niece Kelly Cockrell of Salt Lake City, Utah; nephews, Ross and Sean Cockrell of Austin; uncle and aunt Sam and Faye Whitted of Lake Whitney; Six grandchildren, Austin, Luke, Landry, Katy, Blake, and Layton Cockrell In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the children's charity of your choice.
