Daniel Thomas

Daniel Lee Thomas, 85, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, March 31, 2014, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Joe Bob Boyd and Mr. Kenneth Goodman, officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at the funeral home.

Daniel was born February 7, 1929 in Eagle Pass to John and Amanda (Roderick) Thomas. On March 22, 1952, he married Virginia Goodman in Hillsboro. For over 30 years, he was an equipment operator for the State of Texas Highway Department. An avid outdoorsman, Daniel enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and all types of hunting. He was of the Penecostal faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Danny Thomas; five brothers, Clem, J. K., Clifford, Raymond, and Robert Thomas; and three sisters, Rilda Canto, Tommie Sheffield, and Pearl Goodman.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Goodman Thomas; two sons, Ricky Yates and wife, Susan, and Chris Thomas; sister, Dorothy Hall; two grandchildren, Amy Yates and Brendan Thomas; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
